I haven’t really been eating out at lunch which is a huge change for me because I used to eat fast food everyday. I’ve been just bringing a Healthy Choice meal, or making a sandwich, or bringing something leftover from the night before. Today I wanted something different so I decided to go to Jason’s Deli and get their salad bar.

MMmm. I’ve never been a salad girl. Perhaps that’s why I was never successful at losing weight because I always (mistakenly) thought there’d have to be lots and lots of salad consumed. For some reason though, today I wanted one. It was just lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, cucumber and egg whites. (Can you see where I scraped all the yolk out of them? Go me! lol) I had a small amount of low sodium ranch (about 2 tblsp?) with it.
I’m full and yet I don’t feel “weighed down” and ready for a nap like I used to after chowing down on 2 burgers and large fry from Burger King (my old daily routine).
This is going to sound funny, but I’m so grateful to myself for finally making the decision to do this.
And I’m grateful to all of you for supporting me along my way.

I really like Jason’s Deli! We didn’t have one in FL where we used to live but do here. I am not a big salad person either. I like the extra veggies but not the lettuces. Yours looks good though!
I don’t like the lettuces so much in salads either so, the more other veggies in it the better.
Good for you in choosing the salad over the fast food. Sometimes it can be hard but well worth it in my opinion.
Keep it up girl!
You should be grateful to yourself…you are definitely worth all the effort! Glad you enjoyed your salad!
I love a great salad. It is so much better than fast food.
Either that salad really looks good or you are a fantastic photographer. Either way as a person who just recently decided to change myself, a salad has been one of the last things on my list to eat. Thank you for the post. Tomorrow I just might go oout for lunch and have me one.
Salads are delish! And yeah, I don’t feel nearly as weighed down after having one as I did when fast food was my comfort food!
I love having these epiphanies! I truly think that they’re what keep us on track! Gret work, great progress, great you!!
Good stuff! I love egg whites, is that weird? Both good and bad my work cafeteria has so much healthy stuff but it also means I spend way too much money when I shouldn’t.
I have always loved salads, but I avoided them because of the dressing, which I always thought added too many calories (and I really don’t like very many bottled dressings). Lately though, I have really come to enjoy my salad with just fresh lime or lemon juice squeezed on it, with some salt and pepper. I get funny looks when I ask for that in restaurants… people think I’m depriving myself, but it is actually how I prefer it now!! A perfect example of how tastes can change!!
My birthday is November 30th, which is why I am having such an easy time not focusing on food…LOL! I usually have a fiesta of food for at least a week but usually much longer.
The good news is that this year I no longer have a BF who likes to take me out and spoil me. That should cut down on about seven dinners and five lunches.
