About Me
On my 35th birthday I decided that I was DONE being overweight and took control of my life back. I have been making progress and LIVING life ever since. When I started, I weighed 256 lbs and could barely walk a mile. Since then I’ve ran in 7 5K’s, a 10K, a 15K, and trained for my first Half-Marathon.
Although this part of my journey began a year ago, I still feel like my story has only just begun. What started out as a goal to lose weight has become SO MUCH MORE. I’m on the journey of a lifetime…I’m living out my passions that had been ‘shelved’ for far too long. I’m learning less about how many calories to eat and more about how to be comfortable in my own skin. This blog is my way to record these experiences and share them with a great community of people.
My advice to anyone who wants to lose weight is to just START. That really is the hardest part – making the decision to do it. It took me 35 years to finally take control of my life and commit! There will be struggles along the way. You will mess up. But there will also be successes and if you stay committed, YOU CAN DO THIS! In the world of running, there is always a lot of emphasis put on the Finish Line, but really, you can’t finish something you never START.
Thanks for reading, and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me for any reason.

Update 8/16/2011:
I injured my foot in October 2010 and as result, haven’t been able to run in almost a year. I’ve since found a passion for biking and am currently training for my first Century ride (100 miles!) and still raising money to help Caleb’s Crusade. So, I’m still showing up to starting lines, just a different kind.
Caleb’s Crusade is a cause near and dear to my heart. Their mission is to provide funds to families of children who’ve been affected by childhood cancer. It’s a vicious disease that robs children of their lives. Click here or the image below to learn more and see how you can make a difference. ♥
